St. Mary’s Church, Wedmore

An ancient church at the heart of Somerset

Who’s Who?

Our Vicar

Richard Neill Vicar of Wedmore Benefice

Richard Neill
Vicar of Wedmore Benefice

Our Vicar, Richard Neill, has been with us since June 2008.  Born and bred in Somerset he feels a particular calling to rural ministry and loves village life.  With children at two of the local schools he has a particular contact and ministry in the schools.  He is a big supporter of Bath Rugby although visits to The Rec are not as frequent as he would wish, and he has also just started bee keeping and as a new dog owner is likely to be seen walking around a lot.

St Mary’s is linked with Theale, Blackford and Allerton churches so Richard is Vicar for these also although he lives in Wedmore with his family.

He tweets about his parish experiences occasionally and you can follow him at @wedmorevic

Heather Hector, Churchwarden at St. Mary’s

My name is Heather Hector.  I live in Cocklake just outside Wedmore with my husband Alan and our extended family.  I have been a member of St. Mary’s Church, Wedmore for many years.  I have recently retired from a long career in teaching which has given me the opportunity to take on the role of Church Warden.  I play golf (very badly) but enjoy the walk around the golf course as the views are always stunning.  I also enjoy walking our dogs across the moors and most of all I love being with our grandchildren who are always a delight and keep me on my toes!
